Hello all,
I went to small group tonight and at the end we talked about Banners.
Song of Solomon 2:4 "He brought me to the banqueting house,
and his banner over me was love." Back in the day, Banners were used during wars, a banner holder guy would go before the army with a banner that told who was coming behind him ("Defined them", ring a bell?). In this context, the lady of Solomon's affection is so loved by Solomon that she can be defined by his love for her. Wow...can you imagine being loved like that? Or even loving like that?
I guess this was what I was talking about when I wrote about definitions. I want my definition to be my love for Christ, and his love for me.
So in closing,
Banners make more sense than definitions.
